Today, I want to talk to you about the ebb and flow of life and performance. We are all emotional beings that are fueled almost entirely by emotion whether you realize it or not. How you feel will greatly determines your performance in any area of your life.
Think about it. If an athlete is feeling confident, they are going to perform better and more than likely win against potentially more talented but less confident opponents. If they are dealing with loss of confidence or an off the field emotional drama, then they will get beat by less talented but emotionally confident opponents. Since emotion is what drives all of human performance, it is what dictates performance on an individual level and a company level and even a global level.
Emotion runs the show.
So, if you want to manage your level of growth, expansion, and achievement, then the one thing to focus your attention on is learning how to manage your emotions. There is a natural rhythm linked to the seasons that you can begin to be vigilant about in regards to lulls in motivation. We are right smack dab in the middle of a lull in summer after the spring chickens of motivation have all run into the shade to cool off.
If you are feeling like you have Summer ADD, you are not alone. Another time is the Fall, when people tend to get grumpy, because the summer days of fun are ending.
As a leader, you have to counteract this emotional pull.
*Make a daily game plan for Success!
*Read positive and self-motivating articles and books
*Listen to or read books to learn something new
*Go to a class-learn something new like a hobby or processes to do business more effectively
Just a little food for thought
I want to attribute this idea and much of the verbiage in this post to Bill Gough
